Grandmother's Garden
"I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I was blessed to create it for you."

Grandmother's Garden Painting

I played often in this garden as a child, and it endures in my heart as one of the loveliest recollections. It was an old-fashioned cottage garden that grew spontaneously, and “by topsy” through decades of freely cast seeds and perennial root stock.

This is the most impressionistic of all my recent paintings, not only in style and color, but also in motivation. I wanted to explore the richness of life and color through an even larger expanse of sensory stimulation.  Through my use of multiple perspectives I developed order that transcends chaos, and yet brings every impression vividly into focus.

My hope is that it evokes such a ripe sensation as to suggest the heat of July, with June Bugs playing their orchestra in the thicket of color. I remember hiding behind the tall daises and flushing out rabbits or discovering bird’s nests as I went to pick sunflowers for the dinner table.  Beyond all the particulars, however, I most remember the many dimensions of colorful experience as life surrounded me from every direction and filled my every sense.

This painting fits in the line of my "More than Meets the Eye" landscapes, which are amazing multiple perspective creations (far beyond three-dimensional), which give the viewer a conscious way of crossing the threshold from his own space into another vivid world. The realism is rich and meticulous, and just painterly enough for you to enjoy the expressions of that medium.

This painting is available in two limited editions of giclees, one size 16 x 22 and a larger size 22 x 30. Each one is individually printed by me, and there will only be 100 signed and numbered in each edition. They come with a certificate of authenticity, and you may choose to have your giclee framed or unframed. They are created on actual artist's canvas, and are almost indistinguishable from the original. This is truly a collector's item, and needless to add, the low numbers will be gone in a heartbeat.
